The National Sustainable Development Fund (Fundo Nacional de Desenvolvimento Sustentável – FNDS) has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Sustainable Rural Economy Program, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.
The consulting services (Contracting a Service Provider for the Implementation of the Mozambique Planted Forests Grant Scheme in Zambezia Province) includes promotion of small and medium scale commercial forest plantations, the Scheme is to attract investment by the small and medium holders into the commercial forestry sector, catalyzing sustainable rural development within the area of coverage. This will be done through performance-based grants, the calculation shall be based on estimated establishment costs. Tree plantations is also urgently needed to offset the high level of deforestation within Mozambique’s natural forests as well as to meet the short-medium term industrial demand of the logs and poles to saw. The estimated level of effort is 112 Persons/month, with an implementation period of 2 years, the expected date of assignment shall be no later than 5 months of the date of advertisement.
